A Backloggers ??? Year Anniversary – “Are We Dead?”

“Uh-oh! The Backloggers have released a ‘we are finally quitting the blog’’ post after almost two years, they’re officially done-zo.”

…Or maybe that’s what we wanted you to think!

Well, we can talk about all that in a minute. Still, there’s a lot to own up to since we basically went the whole hog in releasing a bunch of content regularly and then just stopped dead in our tracks after a brief hiatus (which let’s be honest, we do tend to have a lot of) and announcing Mythos’ break from the blog for some time.

That brings us to why you’re probably reading this post to start with. Let’s sum up the next several paragraphs briefly: Tofu and Owningmatt (myself) will be the regular/primary contributors to this blog for the foreseeable future, even though the content might be less often than it was in previous years. Mythos is still going to be on hiatus until he wants to come back, as the reality of these times is that life stuff just happens, which is just the reality of the situation for all of us as things have obviously changed a lot since we created this blog seven years ago back when we had all the free time in the world in college.

The Backloggers 5th Anniversary — The Rebuild™

Another year has come and gone and we at the Backloggers find ourselves at our anniversary for this blog.  We’ve definitely seen more active years in the past, but we got to try out a few new ideas and were invited to participate in some very fun and interesting new experiences.  As is usual, we’d like to look back on what we were up to this last year, but also what we’ve learned and can do better.

Rather than our more wordy approaches in the past, we’ve decided that we want to refine the anniversary post, as well as all our future content, and make it a lot more manageable for us.  The plan is to be consistent and streamlined as we dedicate ourselves to doing better this coming year. So how about we begin with what we were up to this past year?

The Backloggers — Anime of the Decade Post Announcements

Hey y’all, it’s ya bois from The Backloggers here.

As y’all know, it’s nearing the end of 2019 (thank god, am I right?) and with the end of 2019 comes the end of the decade). Anime has undergone some pretty drastic changes since the beginning of the decade as well, in terms of amount and style. Seasonal anime has become a larger thing than ever in recent years, and the anime community has grown to a size that I never would have expected. There have been plenty of revolutionary shows in the meantime as well, some even being large game-changers of the medium as a whole.

A Backloggers Light Novel: We Hadn’t Been Nominated For A Blogging Award Before, But I Guess We’re Gonna Try It Out Anyway (Sunshine Award 2019)

First off, thanks to the Medieval Otaku Blog for nominating us for the Sunshine Award 2019. If it wasn’t for this nomination, we wouldn’t have found your blog which is a pretty interesting perspective to come at anime with, so thank you for that as well!

We hadn’t received one of these before, so we weren’t sure how to handle it at first, but we appreciate the nomination and hope that you enjoy the content that’s on our blog! You guys as readers are definitely one of the reasons that we continue to write and make content, so thank you so much.

August 2018 Community Content Round-Up + Announcements

“Wow, it’s September already?”

This was the exactly question asked in a Backloggers conversation a few weeks ago, and I have to say that this year is just moving along so fast. I’m not sure if it’s just a thing that’s happening for us here, if it’s just due to the major hits we’ve had this season, or if it’s just because there’s just so much content out there to keep us reading that we just lose track of the time. Despite whichever it may be, we’re here to share some of that monthly content with you guys, as we always do, even when we’re struggling to get our own content out. Anyway, I’ll end the preamble here and leave the blog announcements for later, so here’s some of that content we thought was just boppin’ this month!

The Backloggers 3rd Anniversary – Continuing the Rocky Journey

With 2017 finally coming to an end, I hope everyone is enjoying the start of a year, ready to put last year behind us. We’re already in the midst of the Winter 2018 season, and I can already tell that 2018 is gonna be a blast! Here at the Backloggers, we have some things we want to celebrate, some things to apologize for, and some things we want to announce, and what better time to do all of those things than on the 3rd year anniversary?

Yep, our blog is still alive and we’re glad to say that!

12 Day of Anime Announcement + Concurrent Listings of Posts

Hey ya’ll. This is just a brief announcement post about how I’ll be participating in the upcoming 12 days of anime challenge that’s been floating around the community for some time. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s pretty much an anime advent calendar about certain shows you’ve watched in 2017 and you release a post per day about something you’ve watched, played, or experienced this year (more information here). Hopefully one year all three of us on this blog will be able to participate in this challenge, either as a Backloggers 12 days of anime or possibly even individually as 3 separate ones.
